Letter Of Thanks

“The box labeled “For the Families of Our Fallen Soldiers” sat unopened on our porch for a week before I felt I had the emotional strength to open it.  Our son was 19 when he was killed in Iraq five years ago and my heartache has not lessened.

But, lo and behold, instead of feeling the anticipated pain, the obvious care put into creating gifts of comfort lessened some of the sense of loss.

Thank you, thank you for caring, for not forgetting the young men and women who bravely gave their life to keep us safe.

Your thoughtfulness is a true sign of this season of giving.”
