Letter Of Thanks

“To America Cares – Dear Friends,

Words are inadequate to express my appreciation for the lovely package you sent to me.  I’m truly grateful.  It’s so nice to know my countrymen are so thoughtful and caring about those of us who have suffered such a great loss.

My son, was a Marine Helicopter pilot.  His plane went down just two days after Christmas.  It was the first Christmas the whole family hadn’t been together but we never thought such news would come so suddenly.  Our son was so proud to be a Marine.

The blue blanket that you sent is so soft and cuddly and all the other gifts are wonderful as well.  I really appreciate your thoughtfulness. Thank you so much for your kindness and may the good Lord bless you. With Love, from a Gold Star Mother”

“Dear America Cares,

Thank  you so very much for the lovely gifts you sent to me.  They were so soothing and were true gifts of the heart.

When my Jacob died I was promised by many that he would not be forgotten, or the fact of our sacrifice as a family. Time and again that promise is fulfilled.  Receiving your gift, especially during the holidays brought me great comfort.  Your thoughts, and gifts brought me peace.  Thank you and all the businesses and citizens who care enough to remember me.  In deepest gratitude.”

“Dear Fallen Soldiers & Veterans Group,

Thank you so much for the care package.  I have to thank you big time, just letting me know that people still remember all that our children do for their country and the supreme sacrifice they make.

I have to tell you, I had worked an 8 hour day on a leg with a strained muscle and was in pain all day.  When I came home and saw your package, I was curious what was in it.  When I opened it, I put a pot of hot water on, made myself some tea, put an ice pack on my knee and wrapped up in the blanket and watched Meet the Santa’s.  I miss my son big time but have faith he is with God in heaven watching over us. I talk to him now and then and make a point to enjoy my other children and grand children.  We are truly blessed.  Thank you so much.  Your generosity is truly appreciated!”

“Dear America Cares…

It’s been nearly 9 years since we lost our son. It was a surprise – a very pleasant one – to have received your box of comfort this Christmas.  It made us recall our last Christmas together – just 9 years ago.

We realize we are just one family of many, many who are missing a relative and find Christmas so sad without that person.

We have a wonderful promise to see him in eternity again.  Were it not for that, we couldn’t bear his death at such a young age.

Thank you for reaching out to us and thank you for putting together the package.  God Bless.”
